Don't forget! As per our discussion in the library several weeks ago - there are some databases that you can use to help you gather research for your topic!

Click this library link to get there.

See me for the username and password if you forgot it!

In class I may have told you about a history walk on the former Kings Park Psych Center grounds. There is another one coming up in June. Check out this link for more information

Check more information about the 101 in 1001 project by clicking here

There's a ton of information about Project 365 all over the web. If you recall, my suggestion is to make this a project for the summer after your senior year of HS.

Have fun!

1) Create a blog. Post a "comment" here and give me the url for your blog (or if it is a LiveJournal blog, just "friend" me). All comments will be screened so your blog URL remains private if you want it to. Be sure to tell me your name.

2) Post a movie review of One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest as your first post.

For ideas, see:

Dear Seniors,

Chances are that you don't know much about what a
blog is, nor might you care.

The truth is, blogging has become very popular in recent years and will probably become more important in your life as you graduate from high school and navigate that large abyss that we adults call "the real world." Along the way, college might distract you a bit. I have news for you.... college is NOT the real world.
Just check out the blog about it here.

Sorry. I digress...

I have three favorite sites for hosting blogs, although there are many. This site, LiveJournal, is one. There's also
Wordpress and Blogger.

If you haven't already been able to tell, bloggers typically use informal language and sometimes (gasp) profanity. Disclaimer: I cannot be responsible for what you find on the Internet. If you stumble upon something that you find offensive, JUST DON'T READ IT!!!

As if you needed any more proof that freedom of speech is alive and well in Cyberspace... And, no. I am NOT endorsing the views on that website (or any website for that matter...)

Check out
this page, which lists all of the bloggers for the NY Daily News. You'll notice that there are both sports and entertainment bloggers, as well as political bloggers. Take a few minutes to browse and find something that interests you.

Those of you who are looking for a more heartwarming read might enjoy
these pages. They are a collection of blogs from military personnel abroad.

As you can see, the Internet is a place rich with ideas. It's not just about MySpace (yawn), Facebook (OHHHH the drama), Twitter (who?), and the other "social networking" sites that keep you busy suck up all of your free time and brainpower.

Once you find a group of blogs that you might like, you can subscribe to them and access them easily using an RSS feed reader like Google Reader. We saw a video about that in class. Do you remember? Click here for more details.

Happy exploring! Let me know if you find anything good.

Ms. Donnelly
